Everything There Is To Know About Scotts 2000-20S

The manual mower mentioned in the classic scotts 20-inch 5-blade manual reel lawn mower cleans your grass, is quiet, and is a great help in maintaining your yard. Gas-powered rotary mowers harm and weaken your grass, and cause it to be open to insect and disease attacks. With scotts 20″ traditional hand push manual rotary lawn mower, there is no tearing or ripping of the grass blades, it has no motor or engine, requires no major clean-up. The 5-blade hand push manual rotary lawn mower snips the grass, cutting each blade of grass like a pair of scissors, making your lawn greener and healthier. This hand push, no-gas, manual rotary reel lawn mower effortlessly slices through thick blades of grass without complex vibrations or effects on cleanliness.

Easy to assemble
As much as I love gardening, I hate mowing the lawn. I hate lugging my power mower out of the garage and maneuvering it around our cars and all my husband’s junk. I hate the noise it makes. It’s heavy to push and hard to get it into tight spaces. I thought I was at least avoiding the hassle and environmental issues of gasoline by buying an electric rechargeable one. But after a few years the battery stopped holding a charge and they discontinued the replacement batteries, so the whole thing is a giant piece of e-waste now. I didn’t want to buy another one, so I decided to try an old-fashioned reel mower instead. Some of the reviews on this product had me worried. Some people found them hard to push, some said they get caught up on every little tough weed and twig, etc.

Lewis A. Soltis rated Scotts 2000-20S 5 out of 5 stars on August 9, 2018 and this is exact feedback provided:

After 5 years: Great-looking lawn, increased upper body strength, normal Blood pressure &cholesterol

No noise. No pollution. No gas. No cord. No battery. Self-sharpening. It has lowered my blood pressure and cholesterol levels. It provides a work-out and keep my lawn looking beautiful. Be ready for these questions from passers-by: “Does that thing really work?” (Yes). “Why do you use a push reel mower?” (Because I can). Two weeks ago, the handle snapped off on one side. I can’t find a replacement part online so I used duct tape to repair it (it worked). If you decide to purchase this great lawn mower, stop at the auto parts store and buy a bottle of Marvel Mystery Oil and a spray bottle. Before you mow, spray the blades well with the MMO. It reduces pushing effort by 50% and keeps the blades rust free and sharp. I’ve sharpened the blades once in 5 years. Go to YouTube and it will tell you how to do it.

M. Allen rated Scotts 2000-20S 1 out of 5 stars on July 17, 2018 and this is exact feedback provided:

Died after one season.

I loved it while it lasted—I have a smaller yard, so I wanted a reel mower. I loved that it was relatively quiet. I loved that it did not require gas. It worked great the first couple of months…but over time it began missing more and more grass blades, and the wheels got VERY loud. I WD-40’ed the wheels before every mow to help with the noise, but the unevenness got worse. Parts would fall off here and there (especially the ones that held the handle on), but I always found them and reattached. Then, less than a year after purchase, one of the back wheels fell off. They are nearly impossible to put back on because of the way the wheel is attached to its axle (it cannot be removed…at least not by me). I managed to get the wheel back on using needle nose pliers, only to have it fall off again and again….every time. What took me 20 minutes to mow now takes two hours. I give up.It is an inexpensive mower, yes, but I am not interested in rebuying this thing every year. Part of the reason I bought it is to be environmentally-aware and not use resources unnecessarily. I will buy another reel mower, but I will not buy another Scotts product.
