Works well – true pain to install!
While this works for my 2000 Craftsman LT tractor, it is a real pain to install. I had to stretch it with a rope tied to one end and a tool with a T-handle so I could extend my legs to stretch it into position. I had a frame bolt in the way that was preventing the spring from extending. Once I removed that, the process was much easier. Once installed, the cable makes it 2-3x harder to engage the lever on the dash to activate the cutting deck. But some of that could be my old spring was 20+ years old (weakened). Works fine though and I would buy it again. I’ve been using it for 4+ months with no issues.

Plastic coupler failed while testing after install
This product fit my mower pretty well for an aftermarket part for an old mower but the plastic coupler that connects to the blade engagment lever in the “dash” of the mower is a terrible design. It can’t hold up to the tension placed on it while using the lever to engage the blades. The mower is a craftsman riding mower (42″ deck) 917.271141 so your mileage may vary. I’m not going to return it as most of the replacements I’ve found all have the same plastic piece. I found a possible fix elsewhere suggesting a small pipe clamp to secure the cable directly to the lever which I’ll try
