After trial and error works great
Place wire a little away from edge. Needs yard already mowed of large weeds and any clumps of grass. Timer works great. Make sure wire is flush to ground. I put alligator clips on ends of wires going into charger and stuck them out like they would if still connected to perimeter wire. Them I could move mower from one loop to another with minimum trouble. Had to divide my yard into two loops as it’s large. Move mower back and forth between two loops every other day.EDIT: Placing stakes to hold boundry wire 1 meter (3 ft 3 in appx) is the outside limit. I would recommend buying extra stakes and placeing them around 2 ft apart. Still working great and keeping grass at decent level.

It wasn’t capable of handling our large yard.
We didn’t even get to try it after finding it wouldn’t be able to do our yard. I thought it advertised big yard capability but it was not able to handle our yard per the installer.
