Easy to assemble
I have lost count of the number of Black and Deckers I have used throughout the years. However, when a new battery for my battery powered B&D is almost the same as a new weed eater I decided to rethink my options. Since I have a couple of the other Worx yard tools and love them I didn’t hesitate on ordering this weed eater. It was very easy to assemble. I am thrilled with how easy it is to adjust for usage. And even better is how easy you can adjust the shaft based on your height. No more back and shoulder pain because I was too short. It made short work of some weeds that were impervious to the B&D. The only draw back is that my heavy duty extension cord was too thick to go through the slot.

Powerful!

We upgraded from a slowly dying battery operated whacker. This is much more powerful. It has 2 nylon strings coming out and cuts a diameter about the size of a regular family pizza. I made my 11-1/2 year old change out of his crocs, and had him put on safety googles.

Meh. I ended up getting a gas model

I’m a landlord and purchased several of these; I gave two to tenants to encourage them to edge their yards. These are cheap and light, and you get what you pay for. They just don’t hold up. Of the (I think) 5 I’ve purchased, all are now dead. The issue is the design. The motor is down near the spool (unlike with most gas models). As you use the edger, particularly in dirty or dusty environments, dirt and debris get sucked into the little slats that allow for airflow to cool the electric motor. This is unavoidable. Eventually, the motor burns out. I’ve tried, but it’s not possible to take the head apart enough to clean it. Another annoyance is that the spools often stop feeding, and you have to take the feeder mechanism apart and pull the line out yourself. The plastic line warms up as you use it, and the line starts sticking to itself. There were several times when this happened so frequently that I was tempted to hurl the thing over the fence. I finally broke down and purchased a gas model that I can put other attachments on; I’ve been pleased with that. If you don’t mind buying a new one of these every year or two, or if you have no dirt in your yard (heh), this will probably work passably for you.
