I’m so glad I got this mower!
This reel mower was not made or advertised to take on what I had waiting for it. The weeds in the sunny parts of my lawn were thick and about 12inches high. *See first photo* But I figured for $75 if I could get it through the insane dandelion crop just once, it would be great for my 650sqft of “lawn.” I set the height to the max for the first run. My husband took one look after I assembled it and said “that will never work, especially over the bumps and stumps” and that meant I’d rather die than admit defeat. Was it easy? Heck no. Did the mower enjoy itself? I doubt it. Did I fumble and shove and grunt and sweat getting it done? Yes. Did I look ridiculous? No question. But damnit if this thing didn’t eventually cut it all. I’m basing all of my review on trying to do what it isn’t supposed to do: cut high grass, make it through lots of weeds, roll on uneven terrain. And I’m happy with it! (See second photo) Plus the areas of my yard with only 6-9inches of grass and weeds were a breeze. And now that it is cut down it’ll be so much easier to keep it trimmed. My kids can easily use this and I dont have to worry about them losing toes to a powered mower. I’m so glad I got this reel mower!

Kinda cuts
Maybe it didn’t come with sharp blades…it wouldn’t cut dandelion stems, grass seed stems and if there is anything other than the tops of grass blades; a flower stem, twig, wrapper, a piece of mulch, count on it getting jammed. Count on having to mow your yard several times in different directions to get the weeds. It’s hard to cut thick, full areas of grass too. I didn’t expect to have to sharpen it out of the box…if that will even help ??I wanted to like this. I had an electric mower that died. My yard is smallish. I expect I will grow quickly frustrated with this really poor replica of what my grandmother had. With it’s poor performance, I expect I will be in the market for a new electric mower.
