Sturdiness
I do some heavy duty landscaping in my home and the homes of relatives. I work in the yard a LOT. This thing is totally awesome. I drag it with me everywhere I go that I know I will be doing any yard work. It has a great foot rest that allows you to get leverage and is awesome for weeks/plants with a long root. It slices through anything but tree roots. I won’t ever work without it again and if I had any recommendation, it would be that the handle would be a bit longer or come in different lengths. I got a similar tool that had a regular spade shaped head and I like this MUCH better!!

Totally works

OMG, I love it! I have the other type that’s like a semicircle with a smooth edge. It is not nearly as good as this root slayer. Took be a little bit of time to figure out. I mean, the method to this tool is different from the semicircle, even though they closely resemble each other. Not sure if I’m doing it right, but my method works. Instead of rocking back and forth, I *saw* the grass. With my back facing the direction I want to go, I place the sharp point nearest to me into the ground with the teeth nearest to me at an angle to the grass grass and I push down with my foot like I would with a shovel. Much like we would saw bread with a bread knife, I don’t just plunge this into the middle of sod, I place it on the outside of the uncut part. It totally works and it’s much faster than the semicircle blade. P.S. I have clay soil and I used it after it had rained.

Great edger. Sturdy and a time-saver

This is a great edger. After using it for a few days, I love the circular handle. It is able to easily slice through grass and smaller tree roots. For larger roots (>1″) and rocks, I still had to keep a digging bar on hand. The edger is sturdy and has a good weight, so I have no doubt about it holding up over time. The only thing that keeps it from 5 stars is the cost. It is very expensive for a digging tool. At $35 it would be 5 stars for sure. That said, I dont regret buying it.UPDATE: I guess I was wrong about it holding up over time. After using if for a few more hours on a second weekend, the handle cracked. Total time before breakage is <4 hours and around 300ft of edging. Ill return it to amazon for a replacement, so hopefully my experience is a fluke. The soil was fairly damp and soft, and I didnt have a ton of roots to get through.
