Exact replacement of original
The rear axle caps on my 1998 Sears 16 HP Kohler powered lawn tractor have hardened over time to the point of being impossible to remove. Such is the nature of plasticized PVC.As such I had to destroy one of the axle caps in order to service a rear tire. I was reluctant to use the tractor with the axle end shaft unprotected from dirt and debris. The cap provides good protection — after the originals lasted for 24 years.These replacement caps came in two days. The caps slipped right on over the large washer/C-ring which holds the wheel on the axle shaft. Perfect.All in all, a simple part, which was surprisingly easily obtainable for such an old machine, though a wee bit expensive for what they are in my opinion.

Did not stay on hub.
When I tried to install these over the hub I had a lot of difficulty getting them to fit. Once I had them in place, ( I thought), one fell off on the first mowing trip. The other was loose and about to fall off. The principle of installing a hubcap does not require a training period I suspect. I’m going to go to OEM for the replacements.
