Can a lawnmower be “cool”? Yep.
OK, so I have only used this thing once so far, but I am very impressed. The reason for the 4 VS 5 stars? Hang on. First, let me say I live on a corner lot and this thing handled my whole lawn with almost 1/2 the battery left. I’m pretty sure I could mow my lawn twice on one charge. It starts instantly, and I can listen to music on my earbuds while it’s running. It just sort of…hums. As I was mowing I hit a thick patch and the thing sensed this and temporarily boosted the power for about 3 seconds until I got through it..then it returned to normal speed. That’s running in Auto mode. You can set it to run hard if you’ve let your lawn go, or set it to run slower (eco) if your grass is thin. It assembled in about 5 minutes. The battery charged up in about 40 minutes (once discharged take about 90 minutes to recharge, they say). Ever play the game “Halo”? Well…the battery pack will look very familiar then; especially the lights on top of it indicating charge level. This illuminated graphical display is replicated near the push handle. Right next to the button that starts the thing instantly. The battery charger is a substantial thing because the battery is a substantial thing, but it works effortlessly. You slide the battery pack out of the top of the mower and slide it into the charger. The fan activates and the charge commences automatically and stops when it’s juiced. OK..back to mowing. There is no compromise. It has all the power of any gas mower I’ve owned. More, actually. The quality of the cut is great indicating a sharp blade moving at very high speed is at work. Mulching works with no noticeable bogging down (although conditions were ideal when I mowed). Now…why not 5 stars? Build quality is disappointing. The wheels sort of wobble a bit. The hardware to raise and lower the deck is flimsy and on one wheel misaligned. I had to bend it a little so it would properly engage the teeth. If you have ever purchased a cheap hardware store unit you will know what I mean. ALTHOUGH…other than the wheels and the other thing, the rest of the materials are good. The deck is all steel and the area surrounding the blade underneath the unit is reinforced around all discharge points. I just wish the wheels and the hardware supporting them wasn’t so unimpressive. A unit this cool deserves better. If you were waiting until cordless mowing was at a point where you could chuck your gas mower..it has arrived. I love this thing.

Not as good as advertised
I bought this mower 4 months ago and have used it once a week since then. I specifically bought this mower because it had a 58 volt battery that was advertised as lasting up to an hour. I have found this to be a false claim. I have a fairly flat yard and I can NEVER get it completely mown with one charge. In the beginning the battery would last longer than it does now. SInce using it for 4 months the battery lasts a shorter time each time I use it.. THis is very frustrating especially since Amazon does not carry this battery so that I could have a 2nd one in reserve and get the mowing done all at one time. Poulan says I can go to a Poulan dealer and get a 58 volt battery but the closest dealer is over an hour away. Not an acceptable solution. This battery needs to be available for on line purchase.I also had trouble with the bolts holding the handle onto the mower. They vibrated loose every time I tightened them until I finally had to zip tie them into place. This has worked so far but the handle has a lot of play and won’t stay tight.Needless to say I am not happy with this mower. The plus sides are it is fairly quiet and light weight and it does a good mowing job.
