Surprisingly powerful!
I love this edger! I love the look of nice trimmed edges, but gas powered edgers intimidate me. My husband would use a gas powered edger once in a blue moon and though he would never admit it…I think those larger machines intimidate him as well! Otherwise I wouldn’t have had such overgrown edges and in major need of this edge hog.I used this machine with no problems, it was straightforward to assemble and really easy to maneuver. This item shipped quickly and packaged well. I had to go over the overgrown lawn edges at least twice to get a nice sharp and clean looking lawn edges. That’s how bad of shape and overgrown they were in. See pictures. I had about 14 buckets of grass and hedge to get rid of once I was finished and swept up. Now that I have this edger I know it will never be as big of a job as that first time or as time consuming. I have never edged a lawn in my life, and I think it turned out fantastic! This machine is easy to use and not intimidating. My husband was very happy and impressed when he came home and saw my efforts and lawn.I am pleased every time I am outside and see my nice lawn edges. It has made a big difference in the look of upkeep. Even though we always kept the lawn nicely mowed, overgrown lawn edges distracted me from ever thinking the lawn looking really neat. I had the sweetest little helpers on clean up duty and we girls got it done ;)! I love this edge hog! This product was made just for me! This edger gives a sharp look the same as those more intimidating machines without the fuss or scare factor. I’m very pleased with this edge hog and the job it does. Best $80 dollars I have spent in a long time.

Good tool goes bad because of a redesign by people who do not use the product.
I have had 3 of these edgers over the past 20 years. They are excellent at edging and trenching. The motor lasts around 6-7 years of heavy edging for me. Unfortunately, this purchase is a newer model with bad ergonomic deprovements (made up word). The prior design used a bolt on large “helper” handle that sat high on the trigger handle so you could control the unit with leverage from your left hand (thank Archimedes). The “improved” handle is now one piece molded with a small knob (200% smaller than the old helper handle) to hold with your left hand. You can’t get good leverage and you have to bend over further- a real back breaker.It’s disappointing when a 5-star product is improved to a 3-star product.
