Great deal on edger!
Fast delivery and packing was good enough, however, I was a bit worried since hedgehog was packed in plain brown boxing with no Black and Decker logo anywhere to be found. My first thought was that this was a refurbished unit, and sold as new, but I’m not totally convinced of this either since it doesn’t appear to be a refurbed unit, it does appear to be brand new!As for its performance, After reading reviews, I wasn’t expecting miracles just a decent job. If you look at the first 2 photos, this is before and the last 2 photos are the after. I put the edge guide down and cut through the thick matting of weeds in no time. I allowed the machine to do its job and guided it down the sidewalks, not rushing it. It performed perfectly, out of the box. I am happy with this unit and it works well for me, but I also have a small yard, total yard done in just under 2 hours. I used to edge with a weedwhacker and that was pure frustration, usually ending with a lot of broken line and incomplete edging, but no more! Just keep in mind that it is corded and it costs under $50.00. Well worth the money for me!!

I like what my repairman said about this one and the last two bought just before it." All of them are constructed out of what might be commonly referred to as grade 2 or 3 plastic, on a scale of 6.Even the brush holders and bearing supports. When sufficient sustained heat is generated, in normal use, the plastic softens, sags, and in the case of Nr1 deforms to allow the bearing support to come out of alignment. Which then creates more side load on the brush holder which then deforms faster. To begin to fix either the bearing support or brush holder turns destructive immediately.Number two the bearing alignment is still so-so but the amount of sparking from the brushes is pretty amazing until the bearings heat up and slow things down.Number three -the switch is newer-differently constructed internally (Think cheaper) and the original one having arced over to protect the brushes. New switch and it kind of runs, but, with huge amounts of sparking action at the brushes until the bearings get hot and once again slow things to a stop (which is why the switch lasted the shortest time of all).There is no cure for their problems except for having the brush assembly and the bearing holder be made out of something like bakelite or a really good thermoplastic."
