Wish customer service was as good as the mower!
The lawn mower is great and I wouldn’t hesitate to buy it again. The only shortcoming is customer support. Last year the mower would power down off and on, even when the battery was fully charged. Releasing the lever and then pressing it would power the mower. This became a regular occurrence. I called the support line and stated I thought it was a battery issue. They required I take the mower with battery to the repair center. They had it for 2 months and notified me there was no issue with the mower as they could not replicate the problem.I told them turning on the mower a couple of times and waiting for the issue to appear was probably not the way to go. I experienced the problem while the mower was cutting grass and the battery was under an electrical load. I was told to pick up the mower as no problem was found. Because no issue was discovered, it was not considered a warranty thing and I was charged for the labor. Mowing season is back and guess what? The issue is here again. I know it’s the battery because when it happens I just put in the smaller battery off the trimmer and all is good. I’ll just buy a new battery since the mower is great. Ego makes a great mower, now they need to work on customer care.

BEWARE – Last Year’s 2nd gen Batteries but great mower
Bought this July 4th, it arrived today 7-7-20.Unboxed and found the two 5 amp hour batteries, but they are old tech Gen. 2 batteries with the solid green ring, not the current third gen. batteries with the fuel gauge. Note: If you watch the numerous EGO online reviews across all tools as I did you will be aware that third gen batteries have upgrades beyond the cosmetic fuel gauge. My new blower came with a 3rd gen battery.I hoped this was a mistake as the offering page for the LM2142SP currently shows MULTIPLE pictures of third generation 5 segment batteries. Nowhere does it call out a specific Battery model number. I should have caught that. After a very long wait for customer service, I was told by a polite and patient rep. that this mower only comes with the old batteries. I asked if there was any way I could get the new tech batteries, even suggesting a swap with me paying something. Answer – No. “I can send you a hat or a water bottle.” I had to laugh and felt quite sorry for her.She was not able to say the blunt truth -“We got you to buy it with a deceptive ad and now your only remedy is full return.”I am considering that. However I bought this with the special financing offer and really need the no interest extended payments and because of age and health problems need the advantages of the light weight and no gas/oil.So I’ll probably wind up keeping it. I probably would have purchased it with the old batteries anyway due to financing (the why of which ‘deal’ now becomes pretty obvious), but deeply resent the deceptive marketing, especially on what is supposedly the Rolls Royce of electric mowers.EDIT: I have used the mower several times now and it is just unfair to give this great machine a 1 Star rating because of bad marketing practice. Technically I would give this 2.75 but the system is whole number. I would give the mower 4.5 if it were possible and that plus 1 averages 2.75. The half star deduction is from the nature of the machine deck. It has a very long nose and won’t get as close to things as most gas mowers. The same dual battery setup that gives it superior run time and battery life management also makes it somewhat heavier to maneuver, but I want the battery life. I may run it with just one 2.5 Ah battery when my wife wants to mow. She can use this where as a gas unit became impossible some time back, and she loves to mow.Tip: I was having a lot of trouble lifting it up on its nose for storage – which is just Awesome by the way – in addition to the space savings you automatically get to inspect the blade and undercarriage – and I have finally realized that it is because the batteries just don’t run down on my small front yard, and I have been leaving them in place. In future I will be removing that 10 pounds (2 x 5) from the machine for easier storage handling.
