Poulan XT Lawn Tractor Model PXT 16542
This is the correct blade spindle for the mower deck on this tractor. The last person who owned this tractor purchased the wrong blades but mounted them anyway and wrong side up. Not knowing this and especially since I purchased it from a person who uses lawn equipment everyday, I didn’t bother to check the installation of the blades. When I hit a dip on my lawn, the upside down blade dug into the ground, bent the blade and stripped the spindle’s STAR. The sprocket stars on this model are thicker so make sure you order the right blades.

One major flaw
I ordered one, then discovered I needed to replace both. I ordered the second one from the same place just a few days later. The second one looked the same except it appeared to have some type of different coating on it (see video). It had a brass colored coating. No big deal except the top nut of the second one had the threads pressed at the top so it would purposely damage the threads when going on. In other words, a permanent lock nut. The fist one I received had a nylon lock nut. Well, as it usually goes, after I put the pulley on, I needed to take it off. The lock nut started jamming up bad as I tried to get it off and I decided to tighten it back up before all was lost. You can see the damaged threads in the picture. Now I will never be able to remove this pulley again without destroying the whole spindle. If you get this version, I highly recommend you using a different nut than the one that came with it. I sure wished I had.
